  • Coordinated a media campaign to help prevent the U.S. Department of Agriculture from lifting the importation ban on Canadian beef, resulting in two front page stories in Washington Post and articles in Wall Street Journal and USA Today.  After series of articles describing the lack of USDA oversight pertaining to the “mad cow” disease, the federal agency withdrew its rule to lift the ban.
  • Oversaw crisis communications strategy for a major stock research firm sued by two large publicly-traded companies.  Resulted in balanced and in many cases positive coverage of research firm.
  • Orchestrated media campaign to draw attention to the political and policy work of a Democratic strategic research center to help elect moderate Democratic candidates to the House and Senate.  Resulted in over a dozen placements in mainstream newspapers and news magazines.
  • Coordinated production of large-scale events and conferences for the National Association of Realtors, the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  Responsible for thematic approach, hotel contact, reservations, conference materials, staging, logistics, meals/refreshments, invitations, RSVP process, among other duties.
  • Supervised 15-member team of government employees and contractors to plan historic first visit by a sitting president to an Indian reservation for a major conference on housing and economic development issues. Served as liaison with White House to organize visit, showcasing a pilot homeownership project and attracting over 1,000 people and national media to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
  • Oversaw creation and implementation of a $200 million advertising campaign to increase consumer awareness of services offered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Featured celebrities Tim Allen, Whoopi Goldberg and Sarah Jessica Parker.
  • Led New American Schools’ successful effort to win an unprecedented $300 million in funding to implement educational strategies nationwide through President Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” Act. Designed a NAS fundraising plan that generated $18 million in federal funding and foundation grants in one year
